Our History
We trace our roots to 1981, when Congress designated seven Uniformed Services Treatment Facilities across the country, including the Brighton Marine Health Center in Massachusetts, to provide health care to military beneficiaries in those areas.
In 1993, Brighton Marine Health Center and the other designated facilities became a managed care system called the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan. A few years later, with a shorter name, US Family Health Plan became a DoD-designated provider of the TRICARE Prime benefit. Today, US Family Health Plan of Southern New England serves nearly 15,000 members in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and parts of southern New Hampshire and northern Connecticut.
The US Family Health Plan programs across the country now serve a total of nearly 150,000 members. Together, the Plans are represented by the US Family Health Plan Alliance.
